Isabelle and friends

19 months old

Isabelle is in a "Belle, Belle, Belle of the jungle" phase right now and needs to sleep with ALL of her animal friends. She builds herself a little nest among them and often I can't even find her when I check on her after she falls asleep! Her crib looks like one of those arcade games where you move the crane to try to win a stuffed toy!

Election Night 2008

We spent the evening at the home of our local volunteer coordinator for Obama Change Crew 31, watching the results come in with other volunteers. We brought Belle's PJs and pack n' play, but she ended up socializing and holding court the whole night. The best party-trick was when we'd ask her whose face was on various buttons or t-shirts and she'd say, in three distinct syllables, "O-ba-ma." Somehow we were the last to leave at 1:00am! What an amazing, amazing night! I can't stop smiling today. = ) And it'll just be icing on the cake when the NC numbers are finally official!

Isabelle's first picnic

It was such a gorgeous fall day today that Isabelle and I decided to have a picnic lunch. She managed to stay seated through about one-third of her meal, which was better than I would have expected!
















(It's hard to see, but this was also the day of Isabelle's first ponytail. Pretty darn cute!)

Isabelle has been practicing her smiles... sometimes they work, sometimes not so much. My shoes, on the other hand, are always a hit.

Puppy love

My mom brought us this Mexican ceramic dog (via Lancaster) a few years ago, and since Belle came along, it's home has been high atop the entertainment center. For some reason Isabelle loves this dog though, so when she spots it, it has to come down so she can give it some lovin'.

Who's afraid of a little ghost?

Not Belle! Gramma brought this ghostie down with her a few weeks ago and he's Isabelle's new bud. Belle likes to hug him and make him clap his hands. The second picture isn't great, but it's the best one I had of Belle's cute new dress from Gramma.
