Two minutes into the process, Isabelle managed to fling flour in her hair. Now we're cookin'!
After the dry ingredients, the wet. Two cups of milk poured without incident.*
As I was measuring out the next ingredient, Isabelle decided to have a taste. Thankfully no eggs in yet.
Time to clean up and regroup.
Blueberries in!
Mini muffins, ready for the oven!

And a big Happy Birthday smile as Isabelle enjoys Gigi's muffins = )
*[If you want the real story... a few weeks ago Jay bought a boatload of blueberries. We froze half of them, not realizing that you can't just freeze fruit that way. So we've had a bowl of thawed, semi-soggy blueberries in the fridge. Blueberry muffins seemed like a good way to make use of them. Of course, I didn't plan to make these muffins, so when the inspiration struck this morning, I had to see what was in the cupboards. This is where my baking/cooking efforts so often go awry.
First, we didn't have any white flour. 7:00 is a little early to go asking neighbors for flour, so I decided to use the whole wheat flour in the pantry. I have no idea if you need to amend recipes if you swap flours, but figured what the heck. Next, I was supposed to sift the (white) flour. We do have a small sifter, and I attempted to sift the wheat flour, but when you do that, you separate all of the "wheat", so I just dumped it all in.
The rest of the dry ingredients went smoothly enough. Sugar, baking powder, salt. Check. Then things got tricky. Here's what it said: Measure the milk in a 2 cup measure; mix in the oil and egg. Okay. Then dig a hole for the milk and pour it all in at once and mix quickly. Done. Hmm, but the "batter" is totally liquidy. Not good.
I rechecked the recipe and it only called for ONE CUP of milk! Why in the world would they specifically tell me to measure in a 2 cup measure if they only wanted me to use 1 cup??? Grrr...
At this point I figured in for a penny, in for a pound, and just doubled the recipe, adding more dry ingredients to the (very) wet. Julia Child was turning in her grave I'm sure.
At that point the recipe called for 2 cups of blueberries, but that didn't seem like enough (I still had more in the bowl to get rid of), so I put in an extra cup or so. Belle helped me scoop the batter into all of our muffin pans (since I had a double batch), and we went to play.
Surprisingly, the muffins aren't half bad! As Jay said, they taste healthy. Take that as you will. And if I'm ever invited to your house and asked to bring a dessert, now you will be appropriately thrilled that I stopped to BUY a dessert rather than making one myself. ; ) ]

This somehow reminds me of your attempt at Belle's first Birthday cake. :o)
Precisely.
And what makes it even better is that when Jay read it he said, 'Are you sure we don't have any flour?' And he looked in the cabinet and sure enough, there was a full bag! Oh well.
